About Me

My photo
I am a stay-at-home mom. I have been married to my handsome and wonderful husband for over 14 years. Right now he's battling stomach/esophagus cancer. So I do my best to craft when I can. I have two wonderful boys. My oldest, Garett, is 24 and served 5 years in the Navy. He's been home since the beginning of the year (2014). We are very proud of him. My youngest, "DJ", is 13 and in the 8th grade. I have two Border Collie mix dogs (Koda and Rugu), one Calico cat (Hydie), one orange Tabby cat (Bosley), one Tea Cup Chihuahua (Gigi...I LOVE her sooo much), a Chiweinnie (Lily....sweetest dog ever), and a Jack Russell/Chihuahua (Connor....AAALL boy).

Valentine Tree

This card was a little bit time consuming but fun.

Originally I was going to make it a die-cut only card but I messed up on placements and ended up with a space at the bottom.  It looked funny so I decided to add a sentiment to it.  I resorted to my newly filed binders of Unity KOM stamps to search for a sentiment.  It didn't take long.  There it was!  PERFECT for the scene of the card.  Right from the December 2011 KOM.  Unity has a stamp for EVERY SINGLE PURPOSE!

I have since added a pink heart to each end of the sentiment to cover up the edge of the grass.

For all the die-cuts:  I used Memory Box: Puffy Clouds, Spring Border, and Picket Fence. Cottage Cutz: Bella Spring Tree. Impression Obsession: Grass Border, Double Heart Edger, and Butterfly. Die-namics: Fresh Cut Grass. Then Spellbinders for the box for the sentiment.
Well, thanks again for stopping by.  May you all stay warm and cozy today!!!

Valentine Tea

I made this card because I HAD to share one of the tea bags with my best friend.  Aveda tea is the BEST tea ever.  I absolutely love it.  It's so comforting.  Anyway....here is my card (which she already received because I couldn't wait to send it to her...lol)

Stamps used were January and March 2013 KOM.  The heart border die is from Die-namics.  Tea (YUUUMMMM) is from Aveda Salons.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a GREAT weekend.  I'm going to go have a cup of hot tea now :)

Believe

Hello all my Unity Sisters out there!!!  Happy Friday...

What a cozy day it is today for us here in Colorado.  Got a nice 6 inches of snow :)

Under the trees is less snow which is good for my tiny dog LOL.  Over to the left, however, is a bit deeper and she avoids that area.

Anyway...my card I made is a birthday card for my WONDERFUL aunt who has always been there for me throughout my life.  She will be 79 next month and she's having a hard time accepting all the things that come with age.

She's ALWAYS been a health nut and most of her life she's been a vegetarian.  She's 5' 1" and weighs less than 80lbs.  I'm so worried about her.  I told her she needs to get off the veggi diet and start eating LOTS of fish, chicken, turkey, etc for protein.  She refuses to eat red meat.  Ok...that's fine...but more white meat!!  I wish I could be with her to help her in her days of aging.  She lives in Los Angeles in the Hollywood Hills (across the street from Brad Pitt).  It's beautiful there.  She's lived there since 1964.  She paid pennies for her house back then.  She had it paid off within 15 years.  It's worth millions now.  I miss her.  I wish I could get out to go see her, at least.

Sorry...got a little emotional there LOL.  She's a wonderful person with lots of funny stories of her and my mom growing up.  She has a wonderful career life too.  She was a singer...mostly Opera...and she traveled the globe to perform.  After that she became a Registered Nurse and absolutely LOVED her job.  She's retired now, obviously, and now I wish I could return the favor to her and be there to help her as she was there to help many throughout her life.

Well, sorry for jibber jabbering your ears off.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Hope you all have a great weekend.

Stamps used:  Everything Happens to be Wonderful (watercolored)/ Enjoy, Explore, Believe / Imagine It.

Heartfelt Sympathy

Happy Friday!

I really really hate making sympathy cards.  So much so that I don't make them to keep them on hand.  I make them as needed.

My husband's best friend passed away on January 2nd after battling with a brain tumor for a few years.  He decided to quit with radiation and chemotherapy and a couple months later he went Home.  He left behind a wife and 2 sons (10 and 14).  He will be missed.

The stamps I used:
Unity:  Everything Wonderful (sentiment), Donna Downey's Insightful Meadows, and Donna Downey's Imagine It.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp multiple flowers and leaves to make the "bouquet" fuller.  I just love my Stamp-a-ma-jig  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

Mushy Love

Happy Happy Friday

So a few weeks ago I told you all that I was totally redoing my craft room and been so busy with it.  Before I show you my card I made...here are some before and after pics of my room.

BEFORE:  This is actually during teardown of my mess of a room...so it really didn't start out THIS bad.  HEY!  Believe what you want LOL.

AFTER:  The section where my Sizzix machine is will go away once I remove the desk that is behind me.  And my shelves have been cleaned up since this picture was taken.  Those binders are just temporarily holding my Unity KOMs.

These are my binders all full with my KOM's and the smaller binders hold loose stamps from winnings or grab bags.  One is for phrases and the other is just images.  Then there are misc boxes holding things.  Even my Phyllis Harris :)

NOW...On to my card!

I just love this stamp and the matching background.  You Make Me...Mushy and {mush.room}.  Each one was stamped on a glitter pink, silver, and red cardstock and then assembled and lifted with foam tape.  The background was stamped with VersaMark Dazzle and embossed with pink glitter embossing powder (which ended up "flinging" all over my desk when I went to put the excess back in the jar...grrr.)  Then the edges were embossed with glitter embossing powder with matching colors to the mushrooms as well as the background color in chalk.  The floating hearts are punches in glitter card stock.

So that's it....hope you enjoyed it.  Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome weekend.  I have to tackle the walk-in closet (EEWW).
